We got married in November of last year. How should we file our tax returns? Married or singles for the last time?

According to the Internal Revenue Code, what matters is your civil status on December 31st of that fiscal year. So, you should either file your taxes with the “married filing jointly” or “married filing separately” status but not as singles anymore.
